This story has a profound message: The happiness of the good is the sadness of the bad, that is why not everyone will be happy before divine judgment, because God will not favor everyone because God does not love everyone. If the Bible in some passages says the opposite it is because the bad have falsified words of the good: Isaiah 65:13 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Behold, my servants will eat, and you will be hungry; behold, my servants will drink, and you will be thirsty; behold, my servants will rejoice, and you will be ashamed; 14 behold, my servants will sing for joy of heart, and you will cry out for sorrow of heart, and you will howl for brokenness of spirit.

Vanessa was 22 when she met Gabriel, a mature 49-year-old man with a depth in his eyes that seemed to contain stories from several lives. Although they both followed different paths, the connection between them was undeniable, a silent current that always seemed to bring them closer. Gabriel lived with the mother of his 10-year-old son, but there was no loving bond between them, only a respectful coexistence and a shared history. However, Gabriel kept a cautious distance from Vanessa, because he never wanted to cross a line that could hurt his son or make the boy’s mother uncomfortable.

 

Weeks, then months went by, and Vanessa couldn’t stop thinking about him. She had tried to keep her distance, but one night she decided that she couldn’t continue ignoring what she felt. She gathered courage and went to look for him, and in a frank and sincere conversation, she confessed her feelings.

 

Gabriel listened to her in silence, his face revealing a mixture of surprise and emotion. Finally, he smiled sweetly at her and said, “I’m glad you see that I have a future, despite my age.” It was the beginning of something extraordinary, a relationship that would soon become so strong that nothing could break it.

 

As the years passed, what began as a deep and serene love became a connection that seemed to defy the laws of time. Gabriel, instead of growing older, began to grow younger. Vanessa, shocked and amazed, did not understand what was happening, and he did not know how to explain it either. As time went by, they both began to notice that even Vanessa did not seem to age. One day, without fully understanding it, they both looked in the mirror and noticed that they both looked as if they were 22 years old.

 

This transformation led them to a wandering and mysterious life, moving from city to city, adopting new identities, hiding from those who might question their secret. Vanessa, always intrigued, tried to understand how Gabriel could have anticipated the rejuvenation in her life, remembering his jokes and his comments about youth.

 

Finally, after 27 years together, she decided to ask him. Although Gabriel was actually 76 and Vanessa 49, they both looked young and full of life. Looking into Vanessa’s eyes, Gabriel confessed: “I don’t know how it happened. I only remember that one night, after seeing you for the first time, I deeply wished that I could always accompany and protect you. I wanted our love to be unbounded by time and to be strong enough to be by your side forever. It was a sincere wish, and God, in his infinite goodness, granted my wish.”

Vanessa smiled, feeling a deep peace. However, at that instant, a disturbing sound broke the silence, followed by a spectral and heartbreaking voice. As they turned around, they both saw a terrifying-looking woman, with emaciated, red, maggot-ridden skin, engulfed in flames as if hell itself were consuming her.

 

“Did you want this too, Gabriel?” the figure asked, with a tone of bitterness and resentment.

Gabriel frowned, trying to recognize her, and finally, with a mixture of disbelief and disdain, he asked, “Who are you?”

 

The figure smiled bitterly and replied, “I am Sandra. Now you know who I am.”

 

Recognition lit up Gabriel’s eyes, but his expression remained firm. In a clear voice, he replied, “My wish was for justice. If you have found punishment, it is because it had to be so. If my reward is this eternity with Vanessa, it is because it was true love that led me to ask for it.”

 

Vanessa, squeezing Gabriel’s hand, looked at Sandra calmly and added: “This love has the protection of God, and nothing can destroy it.”

Sandra’s figure faded away in an echo of laments, while the couple remained at peace, knowing that neither time nor the shadows of the past could take away the gift that God had granted them.
